Andrea María Porras Rudín, Soprano

In 1985, at the early age of four, she begins her artistic activities, singing jingles for popular brand-names in her native Costa Rica, and soon after starts developing as an announcer on Radio and TV children programs.

Accepted to the National Symphonic Orchestra Susuki violin program, she starts her formal musical studies at age eight, and four years later her singing studies with the well known professor Ms. Mary Peck. Some time later she graduates in this field from the Castella Conservatory, under the tutorship of professor Danilo Chavez.

As a student, participates in musical works such as Lionel Bart´s Oliver and Giancarlo Menotti´s Amahl and the Night Visitors. In the year 2000 records her Christmas production ¨Navidad y Año Nuevo¨ for which she receives the ACAM ¨Young revelation artist¨award of the year.

For two years participates in the group of modern dance of The Margarita Esquivel Program of the Universidad Nacional.

In the year 2004 presents her pedagogical recital to opt for a Music BA degree with emphasis in Musical Education, obtaining the maximum qualification and her degree from the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica.

Has received singing classes with professor Cristina Vargas and private classes of popular singing with the cuban professor Mirta Milian.

Since 2000 has taught singing and given singing workshops in several Parishes and educational institutions. She started teaching singing in 2006 at the Conservatorio Municipal de Alajuela.

In early 2006, under the direction of Maestro Siegmund Weinmeister, participates in W. A. Mozart´s musical The Abduction from the Seraglio, acting the rol of Blonde.

At present she is in the program of the Jovenes Cantantes M. P. Foundation under the prestigious soprano Iride Martinez and continues her vocal formation at the Universidad Nacional under the tutorship of Lic. Karolina Rodriguez.

She continues recording jingles as well as sacred and popular productions. Makes presentations with original, classic or popular repertoires.
